training

Starting in January 2010 and running for 16 weeks, the ‘Instructor Training Programme’ aims primarily, to provide trainees with the opportunity to gain specialist personal skills in a variety of outdoor adventurous activities.

As well as personal ‘hard’ skills, trainees will have the opportunity to work with a variety of groups and individuals from varying backgrounds, developing the ‘soft’ interpersonal skills necessary for working with the general public.

The trainees will be working with an experienced team of instructors allowing them to gain experience of working with groups, so that they can gain confidence in different approaches.  This allows the trainees will develop the experience necessary to carry their skills forward into progressive coaching award schemes.

Towards the end of the course trainees wil be invited to apply for assistant instructor vacancies at Adventure Okehampton for the 2010 season.
