There is a great variety of climbing to suit all.

For the complete novice: An ideal way to safely learn all the basics of climbing and abseiling. Basic rope work and belaying, gear selection and use are all covered with plenty of time to put theory into practice.

Equipment required:

  • Loose trousers such as track suit bottoms etc
  • Rock boots or trainers. Trainers or walking boots are fine for introductory courses but rock boots are much better for the intermediate courses.
  • Waterproofs e.g. Jacket/Trousers; day rucksac)
  • Personal belongings (washbag etc).

We have our own outdoor multigrade climbing wall allowing development of new skills on site. The 8 metre high wall offers opportunities to practise approaching overhangs, lay-backing and slab routes. This allows us to offer a linear development of skills starting on the wall and progressing to the rock face. We also have access to various abseils, one area on site, and another abseil site at a nearby quarry is which is more challenging for adults. On the first day skills are taught and put to use on our climbing wall and a local crag. On day two these skills are further developed, perhaps on a larger steeper rock face. All our courses are run by experienced instructors who hold Awards from the National Governing Body. All equipment is provided.

PLEASE NOTE that for safety reasons all our climbing courses are weather dependent. Should rain stop play then we will arrange another activity.

We can provide alternative dates for these course subject to a booking for a minimum of 6 people.

Discovery Navigation Courses

As part of these courses you will be walking to some of the most remote areas in England with experienced instructors who will help you discover the mysteries of this magical moor, as well as build confidence and develop your Navigation Skills.

No longer will you wonder what terms such as handrails had to do with walking on the mountains and why some people drop small stones when they are walking. With each participant engaging in the exercise, our basic navigation courses are suitable for all, with the aim to feel less “like a sheep” at the end, a comment from many of our past customers!

We run two different types of courses: both will provide sufficient guidance to attain either Bronze or Silver level NNAS, and one specifically for women, and one open to all. Our NNAS gold award courses are organised on demand, often from previous course attendees, who want to continue to develop their skills.
