Accommodation

Two sites, the Youth Hostel and Bracken Tor (which includes the Filter house, are on the South side of Okehampton Town, on the edge of Dartmoor.

The first site, the main youth hostel, is situated right on the northern edge of Dartmoor. The Youth Hostel opened in 1997, in a converted Victorian Railway building in old goods yard of Okehampton Station. The station closed in 1960s as part of the widespread cuts of the Rail Network. In the mid 1990s various work sponsored by various public and private funding revitalised the station area.

This youth hostel is part of the YHA network within south-west of England. The highest peaks and the most remote areas in southern England are all within walking distance of the Youth Hostel. As an Enterprise hostel Adventure Okehampton are constantly seeking to improve the facilities that we offer to YHA members. In 2005 we paved external picnic areas at the front of the hostel. In 2006 we surfaced the car park and this year we have added new games facilities, changed catering styles for different groups and upgraded the bedroom facilities. The main site hosts the Activity centre, as well as an Accommodation unit for up to 115 people in 24 bedrooms. Access all day to Hostel which has full central heating. The hostel meets English Tourism Council Standards for a 3 star Hostel.
